The Amstel friends started as a television concert with a group of artists, but their real fame came with the annual concerts in the Ahoy Rotterdam venue. The concerts are always sold out and in recent years, nearly 100,000 party people have visited the concerts to sing together the artists. That explains their slogan:

During previous editions, many famous Dutch singers performed at the Amstel Friends, such as Jan Smit, Kane, IOS, Krezip, the 3J's, het Goede Doel, Nick & Simon, Jeroen van der Boom, Rob de Nijs, Guus Meeuwis, Rowwen Heze, Di-rect, Acda & De Munnick and Boudewijn de Groot.
