Sights in Rotterdam: Historic monuments and modern architecture
Rotterdam has nearly completely been destroyed during World War II, because of the strategic role of the port. Nevertheless, some very interesting historical sights can be found in Rotterdam, such as the beautiful Rotterdam Town Hall. The Old Harbour and the historic Delfshaven, where many VOC ships were built, still reflect this pre-war atmosphere and are very popular with tourists. An absolute must see and one of the best sights in Rotterdam is Hotel New York located at the Wilhelminapier, which is a great sight on its own.
