Madurodam miniature city

Amusement park Madurodam is a miniature city in The Hague with models of many well-known buildings and landmarks of the Netherlands. It’s one of the major tourist attractions in the Netherlands and especially in summer Madurodam can get pretty crowded with lots of tourist from the Netherlands and abroad.

Famous landmarks of the Netherlands

Madurodam displays models of well-known landmarks in the Netherlands such as the Erasmus Bridge, the Euromast, the Binnenhof parliament buildings, the Maeslant storm barrier, the Royal palaces, the city of Amsterdam with the canals, Schiphol airport and the Muiderslot Castle. You can also get an insight into typical Dutch villages, farms, parks, bridges and windmills. In fact, Madurodam is the miniature version of The Netherlands. Most models are built at a 1:25 scale.

Madurodam interactive attractions

Madurodam is an outdoor park, but on a rainy day, they offer some indoor attractions as well. ‘Hof van Nederland’ is an interactive so called 4D show about the history of the Netherlands and at ‘Zo groot is Oranje’ you can see a movie about the Dutch national soccer team and test your soccer skills at an indoor field with goals. Some miniature buildings at the Madurodam park are interactive and can be moved or started by pushing a button. Kids will love it!

Aircraft and train models

The biggest model in Madurodam is Schiphol airport fully equipped with terminals, the control tower, runways and all sorts of airplanes. The model railway with a length of 4 kilometers is the longest model railroad in the Netherlands and includes stations, bridges and you might see the train with which you traveled to Madurodam! All models in Madurodam are hand made in their own workshop and every year new models are added to the city. They even grow models of real trees by frequently pruning the stores. Trees that normally grow up to fifteen meters are kept only 60 centimeters tall this way.

Q How can I get to Madurodam by public transport?

Madurodam is located at George Maduroplein 1 in The Hague, 25 km north of Rotterdam. From Rotterdam Central Station, get there by train from Rotterdam to The Hague Central Station. At The Hague Central Station, change to tram 9 or bus 22 direction Scheveningen and stop at Madurodam.

Q Is there a parking close to Madurodam?

If you come by car, take highway A13 to The Hague. In The Hague, take highway A12 direction 'Den haag Centrum' and follow the signs 'Scheveningen Haven' and 'Madurodam'. You can park on the Madurodam private parking but you will have to pay.
