Maasvlakte Beach Rotterdam

Maasvlakte 2 is a mega dredging project during which the port of Rotterdam was artificially enlarged by reclaiming land from the North Sea. In addition to the economic benefits for the city of Rotterdam, a 7 kilometre-long sandy beach for recreation has been created near the former Slufter Beach, which is closed now.

The sandy beach area of Maasvlakte 2 is located opposite the three parking lots. Maasvlakte Beach Rotterdam offers simple catering facilities at parking lot P3 and of P1. Opening hours 11 am till 6 pm. North of P1, you’ll find the nudist beach. Maasvlakte Beach Rotterdam is especially famous for the ideal conditions for wind surfers and kiters. Maasvlakte Beach Rotterdam offers a separate and extensive sandy area just north of the parking lots. The Maasvlakte Beach in Rotterdam is rough and windy and has simple facilities. For more luxurious restaurants and shops Hoek van Holland Beach or Scheveningen Beach would be the better choise.

Q How can I get to Maasvlakte Beach by public transport?

The Maasvlakte Beach isn't easily accessible by public transport. The only option to get to the Maasvlakte Beach is by taking the Waterbus service from Hoek van Holland to Maasvlakte. From there it's a 30 minute walk (or a 20 minute bike ride) to the Futureland visitor centre and another 30 minutes to the Maasvlakte beach. The total trip time from Rotterdam city centre would be approximately 2 hours.

Q Is there a parking close to Maasvlakte Beach?

If you come by car, take motorway A15 and N15. Follow direction 'Maasvlakte'. There are three big parking lots at Maasvlakte Beach (P1, P2 and P3). Parking at Maasvlakte Beach is free. If these parking lots are full, park your car along the road. The total trip time from Rotterdam city centre is 45 minutes.
