This striking flower pot shaped building located at Museumpark and will be completed in 2018/2019. Depot Rotterdam is an open art deposit featuring exhibition halls, a roof top garden with sculptures and a restaurant. The art depot’s surface is covered with mirrors, which resembles the famous Silver Bean in Chicago. Due to the reflective exterior, Depot Rotterdam will be a superb photo spot in Rotterdam!
The main purpose of Depot Rotterdam will be the storage of a huge part of the art collection of the famous museum Boijmans – Van Beuningen. Visitors can see what’s going on behind the scenes in a museum, but also private art collectors are able to store their own collection in ideal museum conditions. Depot Rotterdam’s roof offers wide views over Rotterdam and will be the new home for the Futuro, the ufo-shaped house of Finnish architect Matti Suuronen.
Depot Rotterdam is located within the Museumpark, next to Museum Boijmans. From Rotterdam Central Station, get there by metro and stop at Eendrachtsplein. As an alternative, take tram line 7 or 20 stop Museumpark or tram line 4 stop Eendrachtsplein.
