The oldest café at Meent is Café Pol, this is a no-nonsense pub with easy listening music and a perfect place to have a spontaneous conversation with young people. This pub is relatively small, so in summer and even in winter, most people just hang out on the outdoor terrace opposite the IJssalon ice cream shop in Rotterdam. Café Pol also serves a lunch and a simple bistro style dinner.

Café Pol is located at the corner of Meent and Binnenrotte, where every Tuesday and Saturday the Rotterdam street market takes place and within walking distance from the famous Market Hall Rotterdam. Before and after big events in Rotterdam, such as Wednesday Night Skate event, a big outdoor party with a deejay and outdoor bar takes place at the market square abeam Café Pol.

Going out and shopping at Meent

Meent is the sidestreet of Coolsingel (near Rotterdam Town Hall) that leads to Goudsesingel. This street used to have a bit shabby image, but nowadays trendy shops and businesses line up to settle here. The Rotterdam Meent shopping and night life area is evolving rapidly and you can laze about the streets of international standing with a variety of bars, restaurants and clothing stores. During the day you go here for shopping, but at night Meent area presently has the best night life on offer in Rotterdam.
